I have stitched up and bound the wounds that I can, I have even done a blood transfusion. ![]() Even with the accelerated healing that all werewolves have, it wasn’t enough. I can’t save him, I have tried everything. I have stopped the bleeding the best that I can but… he has had his stomach cut open, his organ leaked out and he has lost to much blood, they seemed to have taken, or at least eaten, a few of his internal organs as well. The alpha tie was getting weaker and the tone of an alpha was already beginning to become prominent in my voice. “Tell it to me straight doc, what are we looking at?” I asked with worry and authority already laced in my voice. “Oberon, you may come in now.” I heard Brian call. My heart broke into thousands of pieces and I wished I could take on the pain for her. I knew the second I left she had collapsed in a heap where I once stood, no longer able to handle the hurt and pain of her eldest son. As soon as I got there, my best friend, Olcan, was waiting with a pair of sweatpants for me and his mother Lidia had gone to comfort my mother. Rooms for those who have already been seen and still needed to heal were on the first floor so they could at least look outside. We had an infirmary wing that was kept below ground in the pack house on the West side. I quickly shifted and ran as fast as I could to the pack house, hearing her soft sobs behind me as she fell to her knees. She hugged back and after a short while, she touched my shoulder, nodding her head for me to go, not trusting herself to speak as a lonely tear glided down her soft cheek. I knew right then, seeing her in the state she was in, that it was bad… very bad. I wrapped her in my big strong arms, hugging her with all my might and love. “Oberon, come quickly, they have him in the ICU, Doctor Brian asked to speak to you immediately.” My mother came up behind me, tears in her eyes and seconds from losing it. I was patiently awaiting news because he had told me to stay behind, I knew that he was hurt but I had no idea how badly. But now I’m 23 and my brother has just come back from a battle with a rival pack. I was still too young to even participate and I was fine with it. A fight where all the eligible males come together and take each other on one by one until it is down to two, and the winner becomes the Alpha Male of the pack. When my father died, I was only 8 and my brother was 12, my mother ran the pack till my brother was 16 and took over, winning in the fight for dominance. I never wanted to be alpha, I was happy being beta but now. I wanted to run, to forget what was about to happen, to my brother, to my mom, to my pack. I was standing on a cliff listening and taking in the calm of the night, I could smell fresh pine in the air, hear it calling me sweetly as the wind rustled through the trees like a siren calls the sailors. ![]() Running quickly into the room I saw his hand reaching up for mine. Suddenly I came out of my daze as I hear my mother call for me, I didn’t realize she had gone into the room my brother was in. They all echoed so loudly I thought my ear drums would break everything was moving in slow motion. I knew my place and everyone else knew theirs.įive steps… I had that air about me that demanded respect, and because of the person I was, it wasn’t hard to earn it. of raw muscle, 6' 5" tall, and the ladies never did disagree with my looks.įour steps… I've always been a leader, never shy, and always damn good in a fight. Three steps… I was the biggest in the pack at 215 lbs. Two steps… But I was still beta and needed to take control till we held out next dominance fight. One step… I was scared shit less, how can a beta with no mate be alpha? It goes against pack rules. My mind began to race as I walked to my brother’s room…
